At the risk of sounding just like my Mom, which I do more and more daily….”Where has this year gone?”
Wow, it is hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that today is New Year’s Eve. What’s even harder to believe is I am perched here in front of my laptop sharing thoughts and experiences in my final blog post of the year!
Although I can’t exactly say where the year 2016 ranks, I can say it has handed me a few challenges which made me question my strength. Reflecting back on the bumps and roadblocks as I sit here, I tell myself it really could have been worse. While the loss of my job and financial struggles were upon us, it would have been difficult to have convince.
2016 also brought valuable lessons and opportunities.
A comment was passed on to me this year. The person who spoke those words probably has no idea how appropriate and meaningful the were. “We can’t go back and change the past, we can, however, change how we view it.
A simple phrase that packed a punch for me.
If you are familiar with any of my articles or maybe stopped by the our “Home” page, you know I have only been blogging since June 2016. You also have my story on how that Window of Opportunity was opened. If you visit my article “Changes In Reflections On Life; A Short Story On Life” you just might see where I am going with this.
As a Blogger/Writer, I have learned the value of new concepts and new challenges.
The window opened for me this year was the opportunity to discover the true passion for writing within me. It is something I love. I also did an article “My Morning Stroll To Therapy” for State of Liberation, Lifestyle Magazine.
Every writer, blogger, composer, even painters, artists who draw, etc. have a personal reason for the passion. Certain concepts and ideas they are trying to express. For me it is providing possible lessons for others through my Life’s Adventure’s. The bonus is when I have been told directly a reader has gained something from my writing.
“We can’t go back and change the past, we can, however, change how we view it.” was passed on to me within a week of writing my first article submissions to be published. Perfect timing as far as I am concerned. I tend to build on my writing by drawing from my experiences in the past or what is happening in the present.
Before those words were spoken to me, I looked at the struggles in my past an entirely different way. No, I can’t change certain things I wish I could. However, I can tell you having a different view, sure frees the mind. Making the decision to try to find a positive in a situation, makes me a better writer.
My Blogging Resolution for 2017 – Opening my mind to new concepts.
In 2017, my blogging goal is to participate in challenges such as 30 Day Writing Challenges, more One Word, Image or Phrase Prompts and picking a niche or topic I may not have tried before. For me personally, these types of exercises stretch my imagination and brings out feelings and thoughts I didn’t know existed.
So, to start off the year on the right foot, I am joining other bloggers in the “Boost Your Blog Challenge”. The challenge is hosted by Saving More Than Me and bloggerPR!.
